This routine sets the clutch and gear position when the shift key is pressed.
The main purpose of this function is to set the gear position at a certain time, such as at start-up. This is also used to set a specific gear position, which can be used later when a corresponding “set clutch/set gear” routine is used.
The user can also select a gear position to be set in later programs by selecting a gear position in this function, using this routine (located in program item[HANDLE_SHIFT]).
Items that can be set in this function are:
1) When a gear is set: Set the clutch position using the program[HANDLE_CLUTCH] and the set a specific gear position. This is used in program item[HANDLE_TIMECLUTCH], where the user can use this function to set the set a specific gear position in program item[HANDLE_TIMECLUTCH] later.
2) Use when no gear is set: Set the clutch position using the program[HANDLE_CLUTCH] and set a neutral gear position. This is used in program item[HANDLE_TIMECLUTCH], where the user can set the use when no gear is set in program item[HANDLE_TIMECLUTCH] later.
3) Use when no clutch is pressed: Set the gear position using the program[HANDLE_CLUTCH] and set a neutral gear position. This is used in program item[HANDLE_TIMECLUTCH], where the user can use this function to set the use when no clutch is pressed in program item[HANDLE_TIMECLUTCH] later.
This function will set the gear position (using the clutch position set in the clutch function) when the shift key is pressed.
The user can change the position in this function that the gear position will be set to, by setting the shift gear position using the program[HANDLE_SHIFT].
A shift gear position can be set in the function using the function key as well.

Of all the knocks that the Patrick Stueber-led regime received for mishandling USMNT soccer in recent months, perhaps the most confounding has been the lack of a designated striker.
Despite playing multiple styles of 4-4-2 formations with the likes of Stuerrr, Husain, Jermaine Jones, Jermaine Jones Jr., and even Christian Pulisic, the USMNT found itself unable to score more than just two goals in matches during the first half of the year. For most of the past two seasons, the Yanks have needed multiple crosses or crosses out of the back to score an equalizer, and whenever those chances have come, they’ve come from the run of play instead of a set-piece.
At the end of the day, the USMNT’s problem has more to do with a lack of game management and less to do with an inability to find strikers who can connect the ball with their feet.
Over the last two matches in the Hex, the USMNT’s signature attacking play came from a midfield that included the likes of DaMarcus Beasley, Michael Bradley, Tyler Adams, and Tim Weah. This isn’t to say that the midfield didn’t deserve a lot of credit for leading the USMNT in transition while working together. The trouble comes in the fact that none of them had the luxury of playing on their own.
Through the first nine matches, the USMNT had played 63 crosses out of the back. That’s not including crosses from set-pieces or from off of throw-ins.
When you take a look at the chart below, you’ll see the drastic impact that a lack of a designated striker has had.
As you can see, the USMNT would be expected to average roughly 3.4 crosses per match through the first nine matches, and only put up one cross per match. That doesn’t account for how the USMNT would have performed with their better crosses. Instead of having four crosses per match, the USMNT averaged about 2.6 crosses with most of their better crosses
